Who’s Doing What About Global Warming?

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Even if you don’t think that humans caused global warming, we can do something about slowing it down. For more information on what you can do, Click HERE. Bear hugs, Frankie

Kinda like the old adage “everybody talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it.”
The difference is, we can do something about Global Warming.
Or don’t. We are having a delightful early spring up here in Alaska this year. Almost two months early.
Don’t worry. You won’t see the ocean rising for a little while yet.

Polar Bears Doing Nothing

We all need to stop and look and listen sometime.

I wear a Tibetan necklace when I am drawing. it’s a small globe that is hollow and quite colorful.
When I bump it a sound comes out from it that is almost mystical, a soft, ringing sort of chime.
It makes me stop what I am doing and look around, out the window, see the birds and the squirrel.
people need to stop once in awhile.

Polar Bears Discussing ESA

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Lots of people got really excited about the polar bears being listed as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), however, it turns out there are lots of loopholes so that they aren’t as protected as they need to be. You can get more on this on our sister blog Polar Bear News. Bear hugs, Frankie

I am pleased, and understandably surprised, by the decision to place the Polar Bears on the Endangered species list.

However, it occurs to me that my job will not be complete until their existence and their welfare is no longer in danger;
when their endangerment is no longer an issue. So it goes. Hugs, David

1 Small Step For Bear-Kind (polar bears that is)

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I didn’t think it was ever going to happen, but it did: Polar Bears are now listed as ‘threatened’ under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Of course, ‘endangered’ would have been better! Oh well, 1 small step for bear-kind, with at least 1 more to go! Here are the first of David’s cartoons on the new listing. Enjoy! Bear hugs, Frankie

Alright, alright. Tonite the paper said “threatened.” Humbug. Last nite it was “endangered.”
“Threatened” under the “endangered species act.” I’ll never retract…just make lemons from lemonade.
I hope that when I actually start making any kind of money at this, I’ll still be able to use my mistakes to my advantage…
Fortunately, I’ll never run out of material as even failure can be amusing. Hugs, David
